Memoir Essay

Tiffany Zeatlow
English 9; Mrs. Pollema

About a month ago, the high school choir class went to Dordt for a contest. I was originally supposed to get a ride home with Lisa, but when we were on the bus on the way home Seth told me he was getting dropped off at Donner’s Truck Stop.
“My dad could probably give you a ride home,” Seth said to me.
“Are you sure?” I asked.
“Yeah, I don’t think he’d really care,” he replied.
“Alright, ask him just to make sure,” I said.
Seth called his dad to make sure it was okay, fortunately, it was.
When the bus arrived at Donner’s to drop us off, Seth’s dad was so polite. When he dropped me off at my house, I said thank you for the ride.
“Sure, anytime. Just call if you ever need a ride somewhere,” Vince replied.
Weeks passed and it was time for our spring concert. My mom was very sick and she didn’t think she would be able to take us.
“Can you get a ride from someone?” My mom asked.
“Umm.. sure! Seth’s dad, Vince, told me if we needed a ride anywhere he would be able to take us,” I said.
“Oh, great,” My mom replied.
I texted Seth to ask if they could come and get us, he told me to be ready at 6:15.
Dain and I waited a few minutes for them to get to our house, when they did, Vince was playing 80’s music. Also, I found out that he was a speedy driver and liked to blast his music.
Another few weeks passed and it was time for our pops concert. Once again, my mom was sick and she couldn’t take me. I asked Seth if they could get me again, of course, they could. He told me they needed to get to Prinsburg early because Seth needed a shirt from the Bonnema’s.
Once we got to Prinsburg and picked up Seth’s shirt, we spent about ten minutes driving around Prinsburg blasting music from Q102 and Vince was bobbing his head and acting cool.
From these few experiences, I came to the conclusion that Vince Vander Pol, is the coolest guy I’ve ever met. Whenever I’m riding in the car with him, he makes my day.
